sophie's christmas pageant

This post goes all the way back to the end of November of last year, but I'm finally taking the time to get caught up on photos (Christmas and a vacation caused them to really back up!) and am so happy to get these stories told!

On November 30th I took off from work just a touch early to drive up to Nashville for my adorable little niece's Christmas pageant and to hang with the family for a few hours. The program was short, but oh-so-adorable as the teachers at Sophie's school brought out the classes one by one to perform a short song, starting with the youngest group.

The next class was soooo cute with the little tiny drums!

And then it was time for Sophie's class full of energetic two-year-olds to take the stage!

Ohmygoodness, the gingerbread tutu!!!

And, no kidding, guys, Sophie spent the next several months singing about being a "Gingerbread Girl," anywhere and everywhere she went!

Dad and I were in the back of the auditorium, where the sound booth guys very sweetly let us stand up on the raised platform to take photos.

And then Miss Sophie came back to join us while we watched the rest of the program.

After the last class finished their performance, we had a little time to get the kids back up on stage for a few up-close photos, though Sophie was suddenly feeling just a bit shy.

Dad even tried to get her to dance a bit...

...and eventually she did have a little fun.

After the program we all (including Beth's family) headed over to McNamara's for dinner. Sophie was of course the center of attention, running between all of her grandparents for hugs.

And at the table I kept her occupied by helping her build towers out of the embroidery thread that I'd brought for Mom (the only bit of post-Thanksgiving shopping that I did this year).

I think she enjoyed knocking them down more, though. :)

The food was quite awesome, from the yummy fried mozzarella sticks (that Sophie really liked)...

...to the massive club sandwich that I simply could not finish on my own! I took the leftovers home for D to have later that evening.

And then, of course, more fun with the grandparents. :)

It was a quick little trip, but I'm so glad that I made time to go see her program this year after I missed the last one!
